Product Overview
Ethyl acetate is a relatively stable compound under normal conditions. However, it can undergo hydrolysis in the presence of water and acids or bases to form acetic acid and ethanol. It can also participate in esterification and transesterification reactions. It has a relatively low boiling point of around 77.1 °C, which allows for easy evaporation and recovery in many processes. It is slightly soluble in water but highly soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, diethyl ether, and chloroform. Its density is approximately 0.902 g/mL, which is less than that of water.
