Vinyl acetate, C4H6O2, is a colorless, sweet liquid with a low boiling point. It is an important organic chemical raw material, mainly used in the production of polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) and vinyl acetate copolymers, which have a wide range of applications in many industries and daily life.
The main properties of vinyl acetate include:
Physical properties:
Appearance: Colorless liquid.
Odor: Slightly sweet.
Boiling point: about 77C.
Solubility: soluble in a variety of organic solvents, such as alcohol, ether, ketone and so on.
Chemical properties:
Reactivity: Ethylene acetate contains carbon-carbon double bonds, so it has high chemical activity and can undergo addition polymerization.
Instability: easy to decompose under high temperature or light conditions.
Purpose:
Polymerization: Vinyl acetate is a monomer for the production of polyvinyl acetate (PVAc), which is widely used in adhesives, coatings, building materials and other fields.
Copolymer: Vinyl acetate is copolymerized with other monomers (such as acrylic acid, acrylonitrile, etc.) to produce various copolymers for coatings, adhesives, plastics, etc.
